Last weekend I also managed to see the Terence Donovan exhibition and the Black Masculinity and Dandyism exhibition at the Photographer’s Gallery. Starting with Donovan, I knew the name but was not overly familiar with his work. I did find his portraiture work fascinating and this for me is best emphasised by his portrait below of Terence Stamp… mesmerising. But his fashion photography is also very good. I just love the colour and contrast in the Chloe photograph below.

This exhibition was good, but I was left a little disappointed with the fact that it was only one level and that there were not more pictures. What they did show, mixed in with text was moving, but less powerful than I thought it could have been. Maybe I was expecting too much…
